Benidorm has a very unique climate that enables it to have one of the most pleasant temperatures in Europe. Benidorm is surrounded by some stunning mountains and these shelter it from cold fronts and the majority of rain showers.

To the east, you will find the Serra Bèrnia which overlooks Altea. Next to these are two smaller formations, Serra Cortina and Serra Gelada and all of these impressive mountains surround Benidorm creating this impressive climate.

With this unique location and the warmth from the Mediterranean Sea to the south of Benidorm, it’s easy to understand why the weather in Benidorm is so good all year round.

Many people ask what is the best time to visit Benidorm and the simple answer would depend on what it is exactly you are looking for.

If you are looking for the hottest temperatures then July and August would be the best times to visit Benidorm for the hot, sunny weather. August is also the best time to avoid the stag and hen parties that Benidorm is renowned for if they are not your thing. August is a much more family-friendly month and a perfect time for family vacations.

What is the wettest month in Benidorm?

October is the wettest month of the year in Benidorm, with an average rainfall of 86mm. The surrounding mountains (Puig Campana) protect Benidorm from a lot of the elements, which is part of the reason for its beautiful year-round climate, making it a great holiday destination at any time of year.

In 2019, November ranked as the wettest month with an average monthly rainfall of 111.6 millimetres.

Is Benidorm warm in winter?

The average temperatures in Benidorm during the winter months range from 15° to 21°. Although it is not uncommon for the mercury to climb to 22-26° during the winter months! Many families enjoy Christmas day (día de Navidad) and New Year’s day (día de Año Nuevo) at the beach sunbathing.

The evenings in Benidorm during the winter months can be chilly with temperatures dropping as low as 8° so it is advised to pack warm clothing if you are planning a trip.

Many bars and restaurants stay open during the winter months and Benidorm is still a very popular holiday destination during this time due to its warm microclimate.

Benidorm does not close during the winter months and still has a very busy feel during this time. The people of Benidorm love the Christmas holiday period and spare no expense with the festivities, light displays, fiestas, an ice rink and the amazing fireworks displays throughout December and January. December and January are very busy and fun months in Benidorm with plenty to see.
